Registered Veterinary Nurse - Surgical Team

About the Role

Moorview Referrals is seeking an enthusiastic Registered Veterinary Nurse to join its surgical team on a full-time basis. This is a busy, purpose-built referral hospital located in Cramlington, Northumberland, within easy reach of stunning coastline and vibrant Newcastle. The modern facility is equipped with four operating theatres (one with fluoroscopy), CT and MRI scanners, multiple ultrasound machines, and advanced endoscopy equipment.

This surgical nursing role offers flexibility in your schedule: work 40 hours per week choosing between 5 x 8-hour shifts or 4 x 10-hour shifts, both running between 8 am and 8 pm. You'll also join a 1:5 weekend rota (two 12-hour shifts with TOIL) and contribute to bank holiday and Christmas cover. As an ISFM Gold Standard practice working towards zero pain certification, you'll be part of a large, supportive clinical team delivering exceptional patient care across orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, neurology, internal medicine, ECC, and cardiology.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic imaging including CT and radiography
• Monitor anaesthesia during procedures
• Support patient recovery post-procedure
• Prepare patients for theatre and assist with theatre preparation
• Scrub in to surgical procedures where required
• Deliver high-quality nursing care to surgical patients
• Contribute to clinical standards and patient care development within the surgical team
• Support excellent client experiences and communication

Requirements

• Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
• Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in medical and surgical nursing
• Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues
• Good organisational skills and effective workload management
• Proactive approach to learning, reflection, and continuous improvement
• Experience in surgery, anaesthesia (including complex cases), and out-of-hours work is well-suited to this role
• Referral experience is desirable but not essential
