About the Role
This 12-month fixed-term position offers 20 hours per week across a 8:30am to 7pm schedule, with a share of Saturdays where you receive time back on Fridays. Based in Redcar, North Yorkshire, you'll join an expanding small animal practice with a reputation for evidence-based medicine and a genuinely collaborative culture.
You'll have the opportunity to operate regularly, sometimes all day, with full access to in-house diagnostics including laboratory, microscopy, ultrasonography, ECG, endoscopy, and dental X-ray facilities. The practice is ISFM Cat Silver accredited and Dog Friendly Clinic certified, reflecting its commitment to high-welfare standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality medical and surgical care to a varied small animal caseload
- Work collaboratively with a 4-vet team, all holding certificates in specialist areas including surgery, internal medicine, and diagnostic imaging
- Contribute to regular case discussions and monthly clinical reflection meetings with the full clinical team
- Develop your clinical skills and interests while mentoring colleagues where appropriate
- Support the 7-strong nursing team, several of whom hold or are working towards advanced qualifications
- Engage in evidence-based practice and contribute to the team's clinical culture
Requirements
- Veterinary degree and current RCVS registration (or eligibility to register)
- Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases
- Strong communication skills and ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues
- Proactive approach to learning, with openness to feedback and development
- Professionalism, reliability, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
