Area Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

You'll work across a network of nine established small animal practices in the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire region, delivering routine surgeries and consultations with the flexibility to balance on-site work with exposure to varied caseloads. The role includes the possibility of sole charge work, allowing you to build confidence in independent clinical decision-making while supported by a collaborative team structure.

This position offers genuine flexibility and a chance to develop your skills across multiple practice environments. You'll benefit from mentorship, regional clinical coaches, and peer networks, plus the opportunity to specialise your interests through work with certificate holders in surgery, orthopaedics, dermatology, and small animal medicine.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct routine medical and surgical consultations across nine practices in the region
• Perform routine surgeries with growing confidence and support from experienced colleagues
• Manage sole charge work when appropriate, with access to mentorship and clinical coaching
• Work collaboratively with certificate holders and specialist clinicians to expand your capabilities
• Deliver high-quality patient and client care in line with practice values
• Contribute to a supportive, values-led culture across the practice network

Requirements

• Veterinary degree and current RCVS registration (or eligibility to register)
• Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases
• Strong communication skills and ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues
• Proactive approach to learning, with openness to feedback and development
• Professionalism, reliability, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively

This role covers nine practices within the IVC Evidensia network across Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire: Barton Lodge Vets (Hemel Hempstead), Cherry Tree Vets (High Wycombe), Crossroads Vets (High Wycombe), Hall Place Vets (Maidenhead), Park Vet Centre (Watford), Sprinz & Nash Vets (Thame), Wendover Heights (Halton), Wheelhouse Vets (Chalfont St Giles, Chesham, Beaconsfield), and Straid Vets (Beaconsfield).
