About the Role
Moorview Referrals is a busy, purpose-built referral hospital in Cramlington, Northumberland, ideally positioned between the stunning Northumberland coastline and Newcastle upon Tyne. This full-time multidisciplinary nursing role offers a flexible rota between 8:00am and 8:00pm with your choice of 5 x 8-hour shifts or 4 x 10-hour shifts, plus a 1 in 5 weekend rota of two 12-hour shifts with time off in lieu. You'll primarily rotate through surgical departments including orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery and neurology, alongside kennel care, with occasional support in ECC and medicine services.
The practice is an ISFM Gold Standard facility working towards zero pain certification, and you'll be part of a large, supportive multidisciplinary clinical team delivering exceptional patient care. The modern facility includes four operating theatres with a fluoroscopy suite, CT and MRI scanners, multiple ultrasound machines and advanced endoscopy equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver advanced nursing care to complex referral cases across multiple disciplines
- Monitor anaesthesia for a variety of referral procedures and provide perioperative rehabilitation support
- Perform diagnostic imaging including CT and radiography
- Manage inpatient care including medication administration, patient monitoring and exercise
- Prepare and discharge patients; prepare patients for theatre and scrub into procedures where required
- Support clinical decision-making and share knowledge with colleagues to improve outcomes and service delivery
- Occasional support across additional departments when required, including ECC and medicine services
Requirements
- Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
- Experience working in clinical practice with confidence in medical and surgical nursing
- Experience in surgery and anaesthesia, including more complex cases
- Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues
- Good organisational skills and ability to manage workload effectively
- A proactive approach to learning, reflection and continuous improvement
- A passion for delivering exceptional patient care
- An interest in developing skills in anaesthesia, analgesia, radiography and advanced imaging
- Referral experience would be advantageous but is not essential
