OOH Veterinary Surgeon - Small Animal

About the Role

Join Seafield Vets as an Out-of-Hours Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon in a role designed to relaunch and expand emergency care across Moray. This is a genuinely unique opportunity to work a 1 week on, 3 weeks off rota within a supportive mixed practice group that includes farm and equine emergency services. You'll deliver urgent and emergency care to the local community independently, backed by well-equipped facilities and clear clinical pathways when you need them.

Based in the beautiful northeast of Scotland, you'll enjoy outstanding quality of life surrounded by natural beauty: the Cairngorms National Park, Moray Firth coastline, and a welcoming local community. Accommodation is provided during your on-call weeks, or you can work from home if you're local. A vehicle is also provided to support the role.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality emergency and urgent care for small animal patients during on-call periods
• Manage varied emergency caseload, including both medical and surgical presentations
• Work independently with appropriate clinical support available when needed
• Contribute to the development and improvement of the out-of-hours service
• Support the local veterinary community through reliable emergency cover
• Participate in 1 week on, 3 weeks off rota: Monday to Thursday 6pm to 8am, and Friday 6pm to Monday 8am (with daytime Saturday cover provided by the practice)

Requirements

• Veterinary degree and RCVS registration, or eligible to register
• Confidence in managing emergency and critical care cases independently
• Strong clinical decision-making and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and client care abilities
• Calm, adaptable, and resilient approach to out-of-hours work
