Registered Veterinary Nurse (Area)

About the Role

This full-time, fixed-term role (12 months, with potential for permanence) offers something genuinely different: you'll work clinically across a bespoke network of 6 to 8 local practices centred on your home location, covering Ealing, Twickenham, Windsor, Ascot, Woking, Godalming, and New Malden. Rather than being tied to one site, you'll bring consistency and expertise to practices that need flexible support during busy periods, staff absence, or increased clinical demand.

Working 40 hours per week over 4 or 5 days at your preference, this role doesn't include regular weekend or out-of-hours cover. Any occasional weekend or bank holiday cover is compensated with time off in lieu. You'll receive a £375 monthly car allowance to cover travel across your designated area, with a typical maximum commute of 75 minutes. The variety of teams, caseloads, and ways of working across sites makes this role ideal for a confident, adaptable nurse who thrives on meeting new colleagues and integrating quickly into different environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality general nursing care to first-opinion cases across multiple practices
• Admit, discharge, and monitor patients for routine procedures and inpatient care
• Run nurse clinics and provide client advice on preventative healthcare and practice policies
• Assist veterinary surgeons with surgical procedures, anaesthetic monitoring, diagnostics, laboratory work, imaging, and inpatient management
• Maintain accurate patient and client records, dispense repeat prescriptions, and support reception duties as needed
• Ensure SOPs, Health and Safety regulations, and infection control procedures are followed in all nursing duties
• Support and train Student Veterinary Nurses and carry out Schedule Three procedures where appropriately trained and registered
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, equipment care, stock control, and clinical waste disposal
• Participate in rota commitments, stock takes, appraisals, and general practice support duties

Requirements

• Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
• Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in medical and surgical nursing
• Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues
• Good organisational skills and ability to manage workload effectively
• Proactive approach to learning, reflection, and continuous improvement
• Enthusiasm for working dynamically across multiple practice environments
