A four-day week, no OOH and two uncapped bonus pots make this a strong small animal role with real scope for progression. You'll also join a growing independent practice that has expanded its facilities and continues to invest in the team.
No OOHs, Sundays or bank holidays. Full-time vets work 1:4 Saturday mornings from 8.30 am to 12.30 pm.
James Horner Vets is looking for a vet with some postgraduate experience and a completed VetGDP to join its growing dog and cat only practice in Sheldon, Birmingham. Full-time vets work a 4 day week with 1:4 Saturday mornings from 8.30 am to 12.30 pm, making a true 40 hour week. There are no OOHs, Sundays or bank holidays, and overtime is recorded and compensated with TOIL or pay.
The role offers a varied caseload, support towards further certification and a clear route for professional development. The practice has recently expanded into the unit next door, adding extra theatre space, a new hydrotherapy unit and a full-time physiotherapist. It is an RCVS-accredited practice and an RVN training practice.
James Horner Vets is an independent, growing practice focused exclusively on cats and dogs. It has expanded quickly over the last five years and was named Best Start-Up at the Best UK Vets Awards for two consecutive years, as well as being shortlisted in 2024 and listed in the UK Top 25 practices in 2023.
The team includes Lead Vet Kat, who became an Advanced Practitioner in small animal medicine after completing her certificate in 2020, and RVNs who are encouraged and supported to work to their full potential. Schedule 3 is actively encouraged, with hands-on involvement in dental scale and polishes, suturing, radiography and anaesthetic management. The practice uses online booking and structured triage, and it is both RCVS-accredited and an RVN training practice.
