Registered Veterinary Nurse

About the Role

This is a full-time night nursing opportunity for a motivated and experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse at Swayne & Partners in Bury St Edmunds. The role focuses on providing overnight care for emergency and hospitalised patients, with weekend rota participation required.

You'll be working alongside the OOH veterinary team and other experienced nurses in a busy hospital environment. It is a role that offers the chance to build overnight experience while continuing to develop your clinical skills in a supportive and collaborative setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for emergency and hospitalised patients throughout the night
• Monitor patients closely and respond to changes in their condition
• Administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinary team
• Assist vets with emergency procedures and clinical cases
• Keep accurate and detailed patient records
• Communicate clearly with the veterinary and nursing teams
• Give comprehensive handovers to the daytime team
• Maintain hygiene, cleanliness and infection control standards
• Follow practice SOPs, clinical standards and patient care protocols
• Work collaboratively with vets, RVNs, VCAs and reception teams
• Contribute to a positive and supportive working environment
• Continue developing clinical knowledge and nursing skills

Requirements

• Qualified and registered RVN
• Experience in a busy clinical or hospital environment
• Strong patient care and clinical skills
• Confidence working independently and as part of a team
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Proactive, adaptable and compassionate approach
• Strong commitment to clinical excellence and patient welfare
• Comfortable working night shifts and taking part in a weekend rota

Benefits

• £31,000 basic salary
• £60 per night shift, bringing the role to around £39,000
• Permanent, full-time contract
