Looking for a role where your nursing skills truly matter? Oak Barn Vets offers genuine support, no out-of-hours pressure, and real opportunities to develop in areas that interest you.
No out-of-hours or on-call duties. Saturday mornings on rota with time off in lieu.
This is a hands-on nursing position at Oak Barn Vets, a beautifully refurbished practice set on the outskirts of Guildford with natural light throughout and convenient on-site parking. You'll work daytime shifts only (7:30am to 4:00pm or 10:30am to 7:00pm) with Saturday mornings on a rota basis and time off in lieu. There's no out-of-hours or on-call commitment, offering genuine work-life balance without compromise on clinical richness.
The practice is built on a culture where your input is genuinely valued. You'll be part of a close-knit team of 5 vets, a growing nursing cohort, and dedicated reception and admin support. Leadership actively welcomes ideas and considers suggestions, and as the practice continues to grow, there's a real opportunity to help shape its future.
This role rewards nurses who take pride in patient care, enjoy working independently within a team, and are motivated to develop their skills in areas that interest them.
Oak Barn Vets is part of Linnaeus, which is owned by Mars Veterinary Health, the largest family-owned veterinary company in the world. Being privately owned allows Linnaeus to focus on long-term investment in people, facilities, and patient care rather than short-term profits.
The practice is well equipped with digital and dental x-ray, laparoscopic equipment, K-laser, IDEXX in-house laboratory, separate cat, dog, and isolation wards, and on-site hydrotherapy. It is a certified cat-, dog-, and rabbit-friendly practice. The team of 5 vets and growing nursing staff work in a supportive, down-to-earth environment where development is actively encouraged and team culture is prioritised through regular social events and informal gatherings.
