Veterinary Receptionist

About the Role

You’ll be the heart of the reception team at Lockwood Animal Hospital, where every interaction counts. Whether you’re welcoming nervous owners and their pets, managing a busy phone line, or updating patient records, you’ll play a vital part in delivering the exceptional care this practice is known for. This is a part-time role working 30 hours per week with flexible shift patterns (either 8am–2pm or 1pm–7pm), giving you breathing room in your schedule.

The practice treats dogs, cats, and small pets in a friendly, organised environment where attention to detail and a genuine love of helping people and animals really matter.

Key Responsibilities

• Answer phone calls, respond to client enquiries, and book appointments efficiently
• Greet clients and their pets on arrival and create a welcoming first impression
• Check in patients, verify their information, and ensure records are accurate
• Maintain and update patient records with careful attention to detail
• Process payments and manage financial records accurately
• Dispense medication under practice protocols
• Keep the reception area and consult rooms clean and professional
• Handle administrative tasks including emails and enrolling clients in the practice’s Pet Health Plan

Requirements

• Organised, reliable, and able to multitask confidently in a busy environment
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with clients and team members
• Computer-literate with good knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Previous reception or customer service experience is advantageous but not essential—full training will be provided
