Love the idea of part-time work with flexible hours? Martin Veterinary Centre is seeking a friendly, organised receptionist for three evening shifts a week in a beautifully refurbished practice with a supportive 20-strong team.

About the Role

You’ll be the welcoming face of Martin Veterinary Centre, greeting clients and their pets as they arrive and setting the tone for their visit. This part-time role involves three 5.5-hour evening shifts per week (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, 2–7:30 pm), making it ideal if you’re juggling other commitments or prefer a predictable schedule. You’ll manage appointments, handle enquiries, process payments, and provide calm, compassionate support in a busy but organised environment.

The practice sits on the scenic banks of the Forth and Clyde Canal in Kirkintilloch, within easy reach of Glasgow city centre by train or bus. The beautifully refurbished facility offers modern, air-conditioned spaces, free on-site parking for staff, and plenty of local amenities—including lovely canal-side walks for your breaks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet clients and pets with warmth and professionalism, creating a positive first impression
  • Manage appointment scheduling, client communications, and telephone enquiries
  • Process payments and handle reception administration efficiently
  • Support the 11-strong veterinary team and 5 experienced RVNs in delivering excellent patient care
  • Maintain calm, organised communication during busy periods
  • Contribute to the welcoming, supportive culture the practice is known for

Requirements

  • Friendly, organised, and reliable approach to customer service
  • Ability to remain calm and compassionate under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in reception, customer-facing, or similar roles is beneficial
  • Enthusiasm for working with people and supporting a veterinary team

About the Practice

Martin Veterinary Centre is a recently refurbished, modern small animal practice located in Kirkintilloch, Scotland. Part of the IVC Evidensia group, the practice offers state-of-the-art facilities including five consulting rooms, two operating theatres, a dedicated prep and recovery area, isolation facilities, digital radiography, a dental suite with dental X-ray, and an on-site laboratory.

The team comprises 11 veterinary surgeons (two holding GP certificates in small animal surgery, one with a certificate in feline medicine, and three currently studying for additional qualifications), five experienced registered veterinary nurses, an animal care assistant, and six dedicated support staff. This is a progressive, values-led practice where every team member is recognised and supported.
