Veterinary Care Assistant

About the Role

You’ll be the backbone of the practice, supporting nurses and veterinary surgeons with in-patient procedures and day-to-day pet care. This is a full-time position based in Borehamwood where you’ll deliver exceptional care to patients and clients in a collaborative, supportive environment. Your responsibilities will range from assisting in surgical procedures to ensuring animals receive the attentive care they need throughout their stay.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional care during surgeries and procedures, maintaining high standards of practice and regulatory compliance
• Monitor and care for hospitalised pets, including walking, toileting, feeding and general wellbeing
• Support nursing and veterinary staff with in-patient management and clinical tasks
• Work collaboratively within the practice team to deliver outstanding client service
• Maintain a calm, organised approach during busy clinic sessions

Requirements

• Must be over 18 years old (Health and Safety Executive requirement for this role)
• Passion for animal care and client communication
• Ability to prioritise, remain calm under pressure, and work flexibly
• Willingness to learn and develop skills on the job
• Team player with a professional approach to patient and client care
