Ready to join a supportive small animal team that values your wellbeing as much as your clinical skills? This part-time RVN role in Ellesmere offers flexibility, genuine CPD investment, and a practice that actually means it when they say 'career development'.

🕐 Schedule & Rota

1 in 4 Saturday mornings rota

About the Role

You’ll be joining the small animal team at this well-established Medivet practice in the charming market town of Ellesmere, Shropshire. This is a flexible opportunity starting at 30 hours per week with Saturday mornings included in the rota—perfect if you’re looking for structured part-time work without the unpredictability of full on-call commitment. There’s also the requirement to work full-time hours to cover maternity leave from May/June, with the potential of increased hours once the maternity leave is completed.

The team here values collaborative, compassionate nursing. You’ll be working alongside colleagues who support each other and genuinely care about making a difference for patients and clients alike. This isn’t a high-pressure environment; it’s one where your expertise is recognised and your wellbeing matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional patient care through nurse-led appointments, routine procedures, and scheduled nursing activities
  • Support veterinary surgeons during consultations, surgeries, and complex procedures
  • Manage patient monitoring, admissions, and discharges with attention to detail and compassion
  • Deliver outstanding client communication and care experience
  • Work collaboratively within the practice team, upholding all regulatory and operational standards
  • Contribute to a supportive clinical environment where professional development is encouraged

Requirements

  • RCVS registered Veterinary Nurse (or eligible to register)
  • Genuine passion for patient and client care
  • Team player mentality with excellent communication skills
  • Flexibility to work Saturday mornings as part of the rota
  • Commitment to maintaining high professional and regulatory standards

Benefits

  • Leave: 5 weeks’ annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing with service, plus one additional paid ‘Day for You’
  • Professional support: RCVS and VDS fees paid in full
  • Learning and development: £750 annual CPD allowance plus 2 paid days per year for study; access to internal CPD, clinical communities, and 24-hour hospital resources
  • Health and wellbeing: Health Cash Plan from day one, 24/7 counselling and support services, life assurance at 3x salary
  • Financial perks: Cycle to Work scheme, season ticket loans, staff discounts on Medivet products and services
  • Career pathways: Funded certificates and clear internal progression opportunities

About the Practice

This is a well-established Medivet small animal practice serving the Ellesmere community. Part of the wider Medivet Group, the practice combines local, caring service with access to professional resources, 24-hour hospital support, and a genuine commitment to staff development. The team is built on collaboration and mutual support—you won’t feel like just another pair of hands, but a valued member of the clinical family.
