Lead Vet

About the Role

This Lead Vet position at Medivet’s Crouch End branch offers the chance to take on clinical leadership while staying hands-on in practice. It is a full-time role with a salary of up to £75,000 depending on experience.

You’ll be joining a well-established branch and working closely with a supportive team. The role is designed for a confident, motivated vet who wants progression, with scope to influence both patient care and the people around you.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out client consultations and procedures.
• Take responsibility for patient care, monitoring, admissions and discharges.
• Manage client concerns or complaints raised in the clinic.
• Keep patient records accurate and up to date.
• Complete clinical handovers and arrange transfer of patients needing OOH or enhanced care.
• Prescribe medication and carry out dispensing checks.
• Oversee compliance with regulatory, practice and operational veterinary and nursing standards.
• Help ensure health and safety requirements are followed.
• Work with the Practice Manager on commercial performance and clinic growth.
• Provide clinical mentoring and support development plans for colleagues.
• Share clinical best practice and take part in clinical meetings as required.
• Support accurate lab testing and escalate issues to the Practice Manager when needed.

Requirements

• RCVS registered veterinary surgeon.
• Confident clinical leader.
• Experience delivering exceptional clinical care to clients and patients.
• Ability to work well as part of a team.
• Understanding of commercial performance drivers in practice.
• Coaching and influencing skills.
• Ability to help develop a progressive clinical culture.

About the Practice

This role is with Medivet at its Crouch End branch in London. The branch is described as well established, and Medivet notes that its clinics are run by small teams that work together to deliver care to clients, patients and colleagues.

The Lead Vet is expected to work closely with the Practice Manager and support the wider clinical team. Medivet also states that vet and lead vet roles are responsible for mentoring graduates within the clinic.
