About the Role
This is a field-based leadership position covering Medivet’s South Central region, ideally based around Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, or Hertfordshire. You’ll be responsible for overseeing multiple clinics across the network, supporting Medivet’s ambitious partner-led growth strategy and driving the organisation towards 90% partner-led practices by 2027.
You’ll split your time between strategic planning, regular site visits, and hands-on support for clinic leadership teams. This role combines commercial acumen with genuine people leadership – you’ll mentor Branch Partners and Lead Vets, resolve complex operational challenges, and foster a collaborative culture across the hub-and-spoke model.

Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Support Medivet’s growth and partner-conversion strategy, working closely with Finance on budgeting, monthly performance reviews, and capital expenditure business cases
- Operational Excellence: Conduct regular site visits to review performance, identify opportunities, and support Lead Vets and Branch Partners; optimise schedules and appointments for client care and colleague wellbeing
- Stock & Material Management: Oversee stock management processes and drive improvements in material margin across your network
- People Leadership: Coach, develop, and inspire Branch Partners, Lead Vets, and Operations Support Managers through regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and tailored development plans; manage complex employment relations cases
- Recruitment & Talent Development: Lead recruitment of Branch Partners and development of Lead Vets; build strong internal talent pipelines; review recruitment progress monthly and approve new roles in Workday
- Governance & Compliance: Approve restricted drug requests, review refund reporting, ensure robust Health & Safety practices (including Evotix risk reviews), and support clinics in meeting PSS, RCVS, BVA, and VMD compliance standards
- Client & Quality Focus: Act as a trusted point of contact for clinic leadership; ensure complaints are resolved promptly and professionally; champion clinical governance and patient safety standards
- Facilities & Pride in Clinic: Partner with Facilities/Property teams to deliver Pride in Clinic initiatives and approve maintenance requests above clinic thresholds
Requirements
- Solid understanding of veterinary clinical operations, including planning, resourcing, and the realities of practice life
- Proven leadership and coaching skills with the ability to motivate and develop clinical and operational teams across multiple sites
- Excellent communication and influencing ability; strong relationship-building with Lead Vets, Operations Support Managers, and partners
- Strong commercial awareness, using data and insight to guide decisions and support sustainable growth
- Great organisational skills, balancing priorities and maintaining consistency across a busy network
- Proactive, solutions-focused mindset with confidence in problem-solving, decision-making, and driving accountability
- Competence with operational systems, including Microsoft Office, Workday, and other management tools
- Experience managing people and HR processes, with the ability to coach for performance and support complex employment relations cases
- Awareness of compliance, Health & Safety, and quality frameworks to ensure clinics operate safely and meet regulatory standards
- Full UK driving licence to support regular travel between clinics
