Practice Manager

About the Role

You’ll take on a leadership position at a Medivet practice in Southend-on-Sea, driving both operational excellence and team engagement. This is a full-time role where you’ll work alongside the Partner/Lead Vet to create a practice environment where clients receive exceptional care and your team thrives. The role balances commercial awareness with a real focus on people—you’ll be managing rotas, overseeing resources, and championing compliance, all while building relationships that matter.

Based in Essex’s vibrant coastal town, you’ll be part of a practice committed to delivering quality veterinary care with proper systems and planning behind the scenes.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver and champion exceptional client care standards, actively monitoring feedback and implementing improvements across the practice
• Ensure full compliance with regulatory, practice, and operational standards
• Partner with the Practice Partner/Lead Vet on capacity planning, skills utilisation, and cost management to drive commercial performance
• Manage clinic rotas, resource allocation, diary scheduling, and workflow to optimise efficiency
• Lead recruitment, induction, and ongoing management of team members, fostering engagement and retention
• Use data analysis and systems thinking to support informed decision-making

Requirements

• Confident, collaborative leadership style with proven ability to inspire and develop teams
• Strong communicator who builds genuine relationships with clients and colleagues
• Commercial mindset with focus on performance, compliance, and quality service delivery
• Highly organised with excellent systems thinking, data analysis, and resource planning skills
• Ideally, experience in a clinical setting (veterinary or similar healthcare environment)
• Proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
