Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

You will be central to patient and client care within the clinic, accountable for delivering exceptional service while maintaining the highest regulatory and operational standards. This is a full-time permanent role based in Thurmaston, Leicester, where you will work alongside a small, integrated team of vets and nurses who prioritise both clinical excellence and colleague support.

Your role extends beyond consultations and procedures. You will mentor graduate vets and support the broader nursing team, helping to shape a progressive clinical culture across the Medivet network. This collaborative environment values your input in clinical meetings and your contribution to best practice sharing across clinics.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct consultations and procedures, with full accountability for patient care and monitoring
• Manage admissions, discharges, and patient records; prescribe medication and carry out dispensing checks
• Provide clinical handover and arrange patient transfers for out-of-hours or enhanced care as needed
• Lead client communication, handling updates on patient progress and any concerns raised
• Support the nursing team through coaching and clinical mentoring, particularly with graduate development
• Ensure lab tests are carried out correctly and escalate issues to the Practice Manager
• Maintain compliance with all regulatory, health and safety, and practice standards
• Work collaboratively on commercial performance, including accurate estimates and efficient clinic capacity planning
• Champion clinical best practice within and across the Medivet clinic network

Requirements

• RCVS registered veterinary surgeon
• Demonstrated clinical leadership skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a small team
• Experience delivering exceptional clinical care to clients and patients
• Proficiency in coaching and influencing colleagues to achieve their best
• Understanding of and support for nurse-led consultations and their contribution to clinic efficiency
• Willingness to take on tasks outside your normal duties where you have the skills, knowledge and experience
