About the Role

Newnham Court Veterinary Hospital is seeking a dedicated Registered Veterinary Nurse to join its Twilight OOH Team. This fixed-term position offers a manageable schedule of 12 hours per week (Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 4pm–midnight), with a one-week-on, one-week-off rota pattern that provides genuine work-life balance. You’ll be working within a thriving Tier 3 accredited hospital environment where clinical excellence is non-negotiable and every team member is valued for their contribution.

The hospital is exceptionally well equipped with modern diagnostic and surgical technology, and you’ll be part of a 40-strong nursing team that’s actively encouraged to pursue professional interests and ongoing development. With 21 veterinary surgeons on staff, each bringing their own specialisms and interests, the caseload is diverse and intellectually stimulating. The practice benefits from a strong support team and dedicated practice manager, creating a collaborative culture where your work makes a tangible difference.

Experience of emergency and night work is preferred but not essential—the right attitude and willingness to learn matter most.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-standard nursing care during twilight out-of-hours shifts within a Tier 3 accredited hospital setting
  • Work collaboratively with a team of 21 veterinary surgeons and a 40-strong nursing team across a range of emergency and critical presentations
  • Maintain clinical standards and contribute to the hospital’s culture of continuous improvement
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and support the smooth running of the out-of-hours team
  • Pursue professional development and engage with the hospital’s nursing career pathways

Requirements

  • Current RVN registration with RCVS
  • Strong clinical knowledge and commitment to high standards of patient care
  • Self-motivated and proactive approach to work
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Experience of emergency or night shifts is preferred but not essential
