Registered Veterinary Nurse - Small Animal

About the Role

Parkvets is a large, well-established small animal hospital based in Sidcup, delivering gold-standard care through a friendly, dedicated team. This full-time role offers a 40-hour working week with varied shifts between 7am and 8:30pm, including a 1-in-4 weekend rota with lieu days offered. You'll join a busy, fast-paced practice with diverse caseload spanning inpatient care, medicine, orthopaedics, soft tissue and laparoscopic surgery, advanced imaging, ophthalmology, dentistry, and exotic animal care.

As a Cat Friendly Gold Practice and Silver Rabbit Friendly accredited centre, Parkvets prides itself on exceptional care standards. Out-of-hours emergency cover is provided on-site by Vets Now from 6pm to 9am, with a shared second on-call rota for nursing staff focused on inpatient care when needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients across all departments: surgery, prep, clinics, outpatients, and kennels (supported by a dedicated kennel nursing team)
• Work collaboratively with a team of 16 veterinary surgeons and over 20 qualified nurses
• Support first opinion cases and contribute to clinical standards within the practice
• Take responsibility for nursing care across a range of medical and surgical patients
• Build positive relationships with clients and colleagues to ensure excellent patient experiences
• Support ongoing development of patient care standards within the practice

Requirements

• Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
• Experience working in clinical practice, with growing confidence in medical and surgical nursing
• Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues
• Good organisational skills and effective workload management
• Proactive approach to learning, reflection, and continuous improvement
• Team-oriented and confident approach to delivering high standards of care

About the Practice

Parkvets is an accredited Tier 3 small animal hospital based in Foots Cray, Sidcup, serving the London Borough of Bexley. The practice manages the vast majority of cases in-house and operates its own out-of-hours service. With 16 veterinary surgeons collectively holding over 90 years of cumulative experience, and over 20 qualified nurses, the team delivers comprehensive care across a range of specialisms.
