Registered Veterinary Nurse

About the Role

PDSA Bradford is looking for a Qualified Registered Veterinary Nurse to join a highly collaborative hospital team. This full-time role offers 7.5 hours per day across weekday shifts (Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 6:15pm) with weekend working on a 1-in-7 rota basis (shifts either 9:00am to 6:00pm or 10:30am to 6:00pm). You'll work in a modern, well-equipped facility with separate dog and cat kennelling, in-house radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, piped gases and extensive orthopaedic equipment.

No two days are quite the same at PDSA Bradford. You'll get involved in nurse consultations, inpatient care, dispensing medications and assisting in theatre, including Schedule 3 surgery. Your passion for animal welfare will drive you to champion the charity's mission, promote client contributions and suggest improvements where you see them. The hospital values teamwork, case discussion and shared learning, with diverse clinical interests across the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high standards of nursing care across the hospital, keeping pets calm and owners informed
• Conduct nurse consultations and manage inpatient care
• Dispense medications and assist in theatre, including Schedule 3 surgery
• Work as part of a close-knit team to keep the hospital running smoothly
• Champion animal welfare and the charity's purpose in all interactions with colleagues and clients
• Identify and suggest improvements and efficiencies in resource use and operations

Requirements

• Qualified Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN)
• Confident communicating with colleagues and clients across a wide range of backgrounds
• Comfortable working in a busy, fast-paced environment
• Ability to adapt to the variety of cases seen at a charity veterinary hospital
• Willing to work weekends on a 1-in-7 rota basis
• Enjoyment in sharing skills, supporting others and leading by example
