About the Role
PDSA Hendon is seeking a Senior Veterinary Surgeon to join its collaborative, well-equipped hospital team. You'll see diverse medical and surgical cases, from routine to complex, and lead clinical decision-making while supporting colleagues with second opinions and evidence-based treatment plans. This full-time permanent role offers the chance to develop your skills, mentor junior clinicians, and embed high clinical standards in a mission-driven environment.
The hospital is modern and well-equipped with separate dog and cat kennels, in-house radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, piped gases, and extensive orthopaedic equipment. You'll work alongside a collaborative, supportive team with diverse clinical interests, making it an excellent place for case discussion and shared learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Take the clinical lead on a range of medical and surgical cases, from straightforward to complex workups
- Support colleagues with second opinions and help discuss realistic, evidence-based options with clients
- Coach and mentor other team members, sharing experience and helping embed good governance and high clinical standards
- Build trust with pet owners through clear communication and compassionate care planning
- Work closely with the wider clinical and client service teams to ensure joined-up care
- Contribute to continuous improvement and champion PDSA's mission and values
- Support new ways of working and help shape a future-focused organisation
Requirements
- Qualified Veterinary Surgeon (BVSc, BVetMed, or BVMS) registered with RCVS
- Strong clinical confidence and sound judgement
- Experience leading on cases and mentoring colleagues
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build trust with pet owners
- Calm, pragmatic approach to decision-making
- Commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous learning
- Passion for PDSA's mission to help pets in financial hardship

- Salary: £71,430 to £83,900 per annum (including allowances)
