Veterinary Nurse Team Leader

About the Role

This full-time permanent position offers the chance to step into clinical leadership at PDSA Huyton, a vibrant out-of-hours site in Liverpool serving pets and families in financial hardship. You'll work alongside a supportive, collaborative team that values open case discussion and shared learning, leading part of the nursing team while supporting the Head Nurse.

As Team Leader, you'll oversee Veterinary Nurses and Veterinary Care Assistants across theatre, inpatient care, and consults, ensuring smooth workflows and consistently high clinical standards. You'll be the approachable, coaching-focused leader who sets the tone for excellence, helps embed Pet Wellbeing services focused on prevention and education, and steps in to deputise for the Head Nurse when needed. The role combines direct clinical work with mentoring and operational leadership in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support part of the nursing team, overseeing workflow across theatre, inpatient care, and consultation areas
• Coach and mentor Veterinary Nurses and Veterinary Care Assistants, providing clear feedback and setting clinical excellence standards
• Support the Head Nurse and deputise when required
• Champion Pet Wellbeing services, focusing on prevention, education, and proactive healthcare
• Maintain high clinical performance and excellent client care standards
• Contribute to a culture of shared learning and collaborative case discussion
