Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

This is a full-time permanent position offering genuine work-life balance within a supportive, modern pet hospital environment. You'll work 7.5-hour days within core hours of 08:30 to 18:00, with flexibility around which days you work to suit your needs. The role balances surgical work (approximately one-third) with consultation work (approximately two-thirds), keeping variety built into your week.

You'll see a wide range of medical and surgical cases across small animal practice, developing your clinical skills while making a meaningful impact. As part of a team of at least two vets at weekends, you'll never work alone or in sole charge. Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality clinical care across a diverse small animal caseload, including medical and surgical cases
• Make sound, evidence-based clinical decisions and discuss realistic treatment options with clients
• Balance best practice with pragmatic, welfare-focused approaches tailored to each owner's circumstances
• Contribute to a collaborative team environment, sharing knowledge and learning from colleagues
• Participate in the hospital's weekend rota on a fair basis, either Saturday or Sunday (7.5 or 9-hour shifts)
• Engage in continuous improvement of hospital services and contribute to internal CPD programmes

Requirements

• Qualified Veterinary Surgeon (MRCVS or equivalent)
• Strong clinical confidence and evidence-based decision-making ability
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build trust with clients
• Adaptability and resilience to manage a diverse caseload
• Team player with commitment to collaborative, supportive working
• Willingness to engage with PDSA's mission to support pets of people in financial hardship
