About the Role

This is a permanent position based primarily at Walkden and Worsley, with occasional cover at the Salford branch. You’ll work across a thriving multi-site veterinary group comprising a state-of-the-art 24-hour hospital, a fully refurbished first-opinion practice, and a dedicated consulting branch. The role offers genuine flexibility on shift patterns—you can discuss arrangements to suit your lifestyle, typically working 1–4 days per week with Saturday and Sunday 8-hour shifts on a 1:4 weekend rota.

You’ll be part of a 37-strong veterinary team where many hold or are working towards certificates. Case continuity is a priority, and you’ll manage cases from start to finish. The team includes Certificate holders across emergency and critical care, surgery, medicine, imaging, dermatology, dentistry, ophthalmology, cardiology, and clinical pathology—meaning specialist support is always on hand for complex cases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver outstanding clinical care across surgical and medical cases, managing diagnostic investigations with precision
  • Manage cases from initial presentation through to completion, ensuring continuity of care
  • Work alongside Certificate-holding RVNs, patient care assistants, and receptionists across the three-site network
  • Contribute to clinical standards and mentor colleagues to help them thrive
  • Support the wider hospital team in providing round-the-clock veterinary coverage
  • Engage in certificate-led referral work through the Worsley team for complex presentations
  • Provide reassuring client care and build lasting relationships with owners

Requirements

  • Qualified veterinary surgeon with RCVS registration
  • Confident clinical skills in surgery and medicine
  • Ability to carry out diagnostic investigations with precision
  • Strong communication and client care skills
  • Team-oriented mindset with willingness to support and mentor colleagues
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development

About the Practice

PetMedics is a thriving multi-site companion animal group centred on Walkden and Worsley, and part of CVS Group. The flagship facility is a state-of-the-art 24-hour hospital equipped with four operating theatres, six consulting rooms, a dedicated intensive care unit, permanent CT scanner, digital X-ray, three ultrasound machines, endoscopy and laparoscopy capabilities, mechanical ventilation, and a fully operational in-house laboratory with video microscopy. The practice holds Gold Cat Friendly Clinic status alongside Silver awards for being rabbit and dog friendly.
