About the Role

This is a permanent position at Regan Veterinary Group’s Little Lane practice in Wigan, a progressive small animal clinic ideally situated along the River Douglas with excellent transport links to Manchester, Liverpool, and Leeds. You’ll work a 4-day week with just 1 in 4 Saturday cover and no out-of-hours commitments—a genuinely family-friendly arrangement that doesn’t sacrifice clinical quality.

You’ll be joining a supportive, well-established practice that combines first-opinion care with Advanced Practitioner-led referral services. The team includes an Ophthalmology Advanced Practitioner and a Surgical Advanced Practitioner who will back your clinical decisions, so you’re never working in isolation. The practice welcomes job shares, flexible shift patterns, and is open to relocating couples—real flexibility for real life.

The facility is well-equipped with laparoscopy, an operating microscope, and advanced orthopaedic and soft tissue surgical kits. You’ll work with a collaborative team of certificate holders who share a passion for thorough case workups, strong client relationships, and evidence-based, pragmatic medicine.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver first-opinion small animal veterinary care as part of a supportive team
  • Contribute to referral services including surgery, ophthalmology, imaging, and medicine
  • Participate in regular clinical meetings and quality improvement initiatives
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and team members
  • Support the development of new services and clinical pathways
  • Engage with continuing professional development and in-house learning opportunities

Requirements

  • Registered Veterinary Surgeon with sole charge experience
  • Evidence of thorough clinical practice and commitment to best medicine
  • Strong communication and client relationship-building skills
  • Willingness to learn from and collaborate with Advanced Practitioners and certificate holders
