About the Role

Rowe Veterinary Hospital is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join its dedicated lab team, working part-time across 34 hours per week (4–5 days, flexible to suit school hours for the right candidate). You’ll support the running of a fully equipped in-house laboratory, working alongside another lab technician and supported by the clinical team. The role involves handling and processing samples from the hospital’s first opinion branches, hospital department, and referral services. Full training will be provided, with genuine encouragement for ongoing learning and CPD.

Based in Bradley Stoke, South West, you’ll be part of a small, passionate team committed to delivering exceptional client and animal care across a supportive hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare samples and reagents according to established laboratory protocols
  • Conduct routine laboratory tests and microscope work
  • Operate, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment
  • Perform quality assurance checks on laboratory processes
  • Accurately record results and maintain comprehensive laboratory documentation
  • Support the processing of samples from first opinion, hospital, and referral departments

Requirements

  • Previous laboratory experience preferred (academic, clinical, or industrial)
  • Experience with cytology is advantageous but not essential
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to follow established protocols and work safely
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
