Join the RSPCA's dedicated rescue team at Felledge Animal Centre and help rehabilitate animals recovering from cruelty and neglect. This is hands-on, meaningful work where no two days are the same, with a supportive team and flexible 2-week rota.
The RSPCA Felledge Animal Centre cares for rescued animals, rehabilitating them and preparing them for adoption into loving homes. As an Animal Care Assistant, you'll work full-time on a 6-month fixed-term contract, 35 hours per week on a 2-week rolling rota that includes alternate weekends with a weekday off either side. The role is hands-on and physically demanding, but deeply rewarding.
The cattery houses over 60 cats at any time, each with sleeping areas, toys and enrichment. Many arrive traumatised and need patient, gentle handling as they recover. The kennels accommodate more than 40 dogs, many cruelty cases requiring extended stays during court proceedings. Your days will be filled with walking, socialising, training and care work to keep them emotionally and physically well.
Please note that a driver's licence or reliable vehicle access is highly desirable due to the remote rural location and lack of public transport to the site.
