Ready to give British wildlife a second chance? Join the RSPCA's passionate team at West Hatch as a casual Wildlife Assistant, where no two days are the same and your hands-on work makes a real difference in animal rehabilitation.
This casual, zero-hours position offers the chance to work on the front lines of wildlife rehabilitation at the RSPCA's West Hatch centre. You'll be part of a dedicated team committed to giving native British species the care, rehabilitation, and freedom they deserve. Shifts are 7 hours each, working either 08:00-16:00 or 13:00-21:00, with regular weekends and bank holidays included. This role is perfect for those seeking flexible, meaningful work in animal welfare.
Working alongside experienced vets and a multidisciplinary team, you'll gain practical exposure to a huge variety of wildlife species and rehabilitation techniques. Every day brings different challenges and the satisfaction of contributing directly to animal recovery and eventual release back into the wild.
The RSPCA's Wildlife Centre at West Hatch is a specialist facility dedicated to the care and rehabilitation of British wildlife. Operating as part of the RSPCA's wider animal welfare mission, the centre admits casualties across a diverse range of native species and works to return recovered animals to the wild. The team combines hands-on practical care with field research and evidence-based rehabilitation techniques.
Candidates for this role may be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check as part of the RSPCA's commitment to animal and organisational safety. The RSPCA actively encourages applications from all backgrounds, particularly from underrepresented groups including members of minority ethnic communities and people with disabilities.
