This is a mixed first-opinion and referral role based at Rutland House's main hospital in St Helens, plus one of their branch surgeries. You'll work a 50/50 split between the two sites, sharing operating and consulting duties equally. Approximately every two months, you'll spend one full week as the hospital's inpatient-only vet. The role combines general practice caseload management with exposure to more complex cases and the chance to develop advanced surgical and clinical skills alongside experienced first-opinion and referral clinicians.
This is a daytime-only position for day vets, with out-of-hours contribution limited to holiday and sickness cover. You'll work a flexible 4-day week with just 1:8 weekends and no additional Saturdays. Support is always available for case discussion or assistance, and the practice actively promotes case continuity between branches and the hospital.
