About the Role

Salary: National Minimum Wage

This part-time receptionist role (24 hours weekly, including Saturday mornings) offers the perfect balance for someone seeking flexible veterinary practice work. You’ll be the first point of contact for clients and their pets, setting the tone for their experience at Straid Vets—a forward-thinking small animal practice in Beaconsfield, a bustling town with excellent transport links to London, local countryside, and plenty of independent shops and cafes.

The practice itself is well-equipped with 3 consultation rooms, dedicated prep and dental area (with dental X-ray), a theatre, X-ray room, ultrasound, in-house laboratory, and separate dog and cat wards. Beyond routine surgery, the team performs orthopaedic and advanced soft tissue procedures, creating a dynamic environment where you’ll support diverse cases and a clinically ambitious team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet clients and pets warmly upon arrival, creating a welcoming and professional atmosphere
  • Schedule appointments efficiently and manage the clinic calendar across multiple time slots
  • Answer phone enquiries regarding services, treatments, and pet care information with confidence and accuracy
  • Maintain detailed patient records, including medical histories and laboratory results
  • Process payments and manage billing enquiries with attention to detail
  • Keep the reception area clean, organised, and well-stocked with supplies
  • Support colleagues during busy periods, assisting with client communications and follow-ups
  • Work collaboratively with clinical and non-clinical staff to ensure a positive journey for every client and patient

Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills and a naturally welcoming, professional manner
  • Proven experience in a customer-facing role with a strong focus on service and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks effectively in a busy environment
  • Strong organisational skills and reliability
