This position is Monday–Friday, 8am–6pm daytime hours only; no out-of-hours, on-call, or overnight shifts required.

About the Role

Sunninghill Veterinary Centre is seeking a dedicated Registered Veterinary Nurse to become an integral member of its clinical team. This full-time position offers 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8am–6pm—allowing for genuine work-life balance without out-of-hours commitments. You’ll deliver high-quality nursing care to a varied first opinion caseload, working alongside experienced veterinary surgeons in a practice renowned for its calm, welcoming environment and commitment to exceptional patient outcomes.

The team takes time to do things properly, whether that’s longer consultations, thorough discussions, or simply reassuring clients and their pets. With modern in-house diagnostics and a willingness to undertake more complex orthopaedic surgeries, you’ll gain exposure to diverse cases within a supportive, values-led culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care for hospitalised patients, ensuring comfort and recovery
  • Monitor anaesthetics during surgical procedures and maintain patient safety throughout theatre work
  • Prepare animals for surgery, including clipping and aseptic technique preparation
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by veterinary surgeons
  • Assist with diagnostic procedures—radiography, blood sampling, laboratory tests, and other investigations
  • Contribute to clinical standards and support the ongoing development of patient care within the practice
  • Collaborate with veterinary surgeons and the wider practice team to deliver excellent client experiences

Requirements

  • Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
  • Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in medical and surgical nursing
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Good organisational skills and effective workload management
  • Proactive approach to learning, reflection, and continuous improvement
