Kingston Vets is seeking a part-time Veterinary Surgeon to join their established small animal practice in Yeovil, Somerset. This is a two-day-per-week role with a 1-in-3 Saturday morning rota (8:30am to 12:30pm), and importantly, no out-of-hours or on-call commitments. You'll work between 8:30am and 6:30pm across the two practice days, giving you genuine time to enjoy life outside work.
The practice has been trusted by the local community for over 100 years and now operates two purpose-built sites in Sherborne and Yeovil. You'll have access to excellent facilities including digital and dental radiography, ultrasound, laparoscopic equipment, and separate heated cat and dog wards with isolation. The practice holds Silver ISFM status, reflecting its commitment to feline-friendly care.
Your caseload will be varied and rewarding: cats, dogs, rabbits, and small furries with strong emphasis on case continuity. You'll enjoy a balanced mix of consultations and surgery, handling routine work alongside orthopaedics, dental procedures, splenectomies, and complex medical and surgical cases. A visiting orthopaedic specialist is available for more intricate cases, and you'll work within a collaborative team of six vets, six RVNs, two SVNs, and a dedicated client care team.
Kingston Vets opened its first surgery in Yeovil on Preston Road in 1949, relocating in 1989 to a purpose-built clinic on Abbey Manor Park. The practice is now part of inspiring vet care, the UK's number one vet care provider, trusted with the care of over 2 million animals. The practice maintains high clinical standards with modern facilities including digital x-ray, ultrasound, laparoscopy, endoscopy, ECG, blood pressure monitoring, and separate heated kennels for hospitalised patients.
The team provides a friendly, professional environment where clients can be seen by their veterinary surgeon of choice wherever possible. The practice values case continuity and delivers a high standard of care without requiring clients to travel for complex procedures.
