Abbey Veterinary Centres is looking for a confident, first opinion, all-round GP vet to join its close-knit and forward-thinking team in Abergavenny. The role is full time with a 4-day week, part-time is considered, and flexible working patterns are open for discussion.
The rota includes Saturdays at 1:5 and inpatient on-call cover at 1:6. There is no nights on call on Saturdays, Sundays or bank holidays, and a dedicated night RVN stays on site to provide routine medication and care. Consults are 15 minutes, with an 8.45am start and a last appointment at 6.15pm.
The practice is set in beautiful South Wales, on the edge of Bannau Brycheiniog, with Abergavenny described as a great place to live and work, and Bristol, Cardiff and London all mentioned as accessible.
Abbey Veterinary Centres has 4 RCVS-accredited branches that have recently been refurbished. All sites are equipped with in-house blood machines, ultrasound and X-ray, while the Abergavenny hub also has newly bought DR X-ray, dental X-ray, ultrasound, laser therapy and blood gas machines.
The practice offers 24-hour on-site nurse-led inpatient care Monday to Friday, alongside clinical freedom and strong internal case support. The team includes 12 vets, with certificate holders in medicine and radiology, plus visiting specialists. Surgical mentorship is available from a cert AVP to support development of advanced surgical procedure skills.
