Practice Manager

About the Role

This is a varied leadership role for an experienced, people-focused Practice Manager who wants to make a genuine difference across a thriving multi-site veterinary practice. You will be working alongside the Clinical Directors, helping to drive operational excellence, support and develop teams, and contribute to the future direction of the business.

The role is full-time, working Monday to Friday for 40 hours a week. It is based with Abbey Veterinary Centres in Abergavenny, within a practice group that operates across South Wales.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and support practice teams across the sites
• Manage and develop administrative and support teams
• Oversee recruitment, onboarding, employee development and workforce planning
• Support performance management, including appraisals, one to ones and absence management
• Promote a positive team culture and handle employee relations matters
• Support customer service standards and help resolve client concerns
• Monitor operational performance, compliance, health and safety, and practice standards
• Support financial performance through resource, stock and debt management
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, efficiency and practice growth
• Work with the Clinical Directors and the wider VetPartners network to deliver business objectives

Requirements

• Previous management experience within a veterinary practice or a similar environment
• Strong people management and team development skills
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities
• Experience managing multiple priorities and implementing change
• A proactive, solutions-focused approach
• A commitment to delivering outstanding client and patient experiences
• A supportive leadership style with the ability to build strong working relationships

About the Practice

Abbey Veterinary Centres has been providing veterinary care since the 1980s across Monmouthshire, Gwent and Powys. The group has four RCVS-accredited branches in Abergavenny, Monmouth, Brecon and Tredegar.

The practice team includes 12 vets, with certificate holders in Surgery, Medicine and Radiology, as well as an experienced nursing team and dedicated support colleagues. It is described as having a loyal client base and a strong reputation for quality patient care, and it forms part of VetPartners.
