Receptionist

About the Role

Grange Veterinary Surgery in Norton is looking for a friendly and organised Receptionist to join its busy small animal practice. This is a part time role of 28.5 hours per week, working Monday to Friday with Saturday mornings on a rota basis.

You will be the first point of contact for clients and their pets, helping to deliver excellent customer service while supporting the clinical team in a fast paced environment. The role brings a mix of client care, administration and practical support across the front desk.

Key Responsibilities

• Welcome clients and pets to the practice
• Handle telephone enquiries and book appointments
• Take payments and discuss treatment costs
• Promote the Pet Health Plan
• Process insurance claims and general administration
• Manage emails, filing and record keeping
• Support vets and nurses with administrative tasks
• Dispense medication in line with practice procedures
• Keep the reception area clean and professional

Requirements

• Experience in a customer-facing role, ideally in a busy environment
• Confidence discussing financial matters with clients
• Strong communication and organisation skills
• Comfort using computer systems
• Ability to stay calm and professional in emotional or challenging situations
• Flexibility and a team-focused approach

About the Practice

Grange Veterinary Surgery is a well-established and recently refurbished small animal practice with modern facilities including separate dog and cat wards, digital x-ray, ultrasound, dental facilities and spacious consultation rooms.

The team includes 4 vets, 4 RVNs and 4 receptionists, creating a collaborative working environment at the Norton practice.
