Work a genuine 3-day week with one weeknight on-call every fortnight and Saturday mornings finishing at noon. Join a thriving small animal and exotics practice on the Fylde coast where work-life balance isn't just promised, it's built into the rota.
One weekday night on-call every two weeks; 1:4 Saturday mornings finishing by 12pm. Full on-site accommodation provided. Answering service screens overnight calls; RVN available on call.
This full-time position offers a genuinely flexible working pattern: you'll work three days per week, 8:30am to 7pm, with your last consultation slot at 5:45pm. There's just one weekday night on-call every two weeks and a 1:4 Saturday morning rota, finishing by noon. The practice has invested heavily in modern facilities, including separate waiting areas and consulting rooms for dogs and cats, dedicated wards for exotics, rabbits and birds, and a new building currently under construction housing a 64-slice CT scanner and additional operating theatre.
You'll be part of a three-vet operating model each day: one main operating vet, a second providing support, and one monitoring hospitalised patients. Time is set aside for lunch, case discussion and making calls. On-site accommodation is provided for the infrequent on-call shifts, and an answering service screens overnight calls so you're only disturbed for genuine emergencies. An RVN is on call each night to provide additional support.
Located on the beautiful Fylde coast within walking distance of Lytham St Annes' sandy beaches, the practice is ideally positioned for exploring the surrounding areas. The Lake District, Manchester and Liverpool are all within an hour's drive.
The Veterinary Health Centre is an established small animal and exotics practice on the Fylde coast, founded in 2005. The practice has experienced significant growth and recently expanded its first floor to provide separate waiting areas and consulting rooms for dogs and cats, alongside dedicated wards for exotics, rabbits and birds. A new extension is currently under construction, set to be completed by summer, featuring a 64-slice CT scanner and an additional operating theatre.
The team is close-knit, sociable and actively involved in supporting local causes. The practice regularly organises team nights out and annual trips, and has a strong track record of fundraising for worthwhile causes, from supporting team members' personal challenges to purchasing equipment that benefits both the practice and the community. As part of VetPartners, the practice benefits from the group's commitment to outstanding team culture and has been recognised as an Employer of the Year.
