Deputy Head Registered Veterinary Nurse

About the Role

This is a full-time Deputy Head RVN position working 39 hours per week across four nine-hour shifts between 8am and 7:30pm, Monday to Friday. You'll be based at Norwich Longwater Vets for Pets, with a manageable 1 in 8 weekend rota currently split with the nearby Norwich Sprowston practice. A varied nursing role that lets you fully utilise your clinical skills while stepping into a supportive leadership position.

You'll join a team that genuinely values input from all colleagues. Your role will support the smooth running of the practice whilst delivering outstanding patient care and client service.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert nursing care across all general nursing aspects
• Coach and mentor nursing colleagues, helping them develop their clinical and professional skills
• Keep yourself and the team up to speed with practice services and available options to guide clients effectively
• Support non-clinical duties to maintain smooth practice operations
• Communicate with clients compassionately, whether delivering difficult news or celebrating new patient milestones
• Bring energy and enthusiasm to a busy, varied caseload

Requirements

• Current RVN registration with the RCVS
• Proven experience in all aspects of general small animal nursing
• Excellent communicator with a supportive approach to colleagues
• Highly organised with a passion for clinical standards
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and prioritise patient and client needs
• Leadership and management experience preferred, but not essential; on-the-job training is available
• Willingness and ability to become a clinical coach
