Full Time
No OOH
Join a busy, supportive small animal practice in London where nurse-led care is valued and OOH shifts don't exist. You'll work alongside 4 vets and a talented nursing team delivering advanced care—from orthopaedic surgery to specialist nurse clinics—with just 1 in 4 Saturdays and genuine work-life balance.

🕐 Schedule & Rota

No out-of-hours shifts. Rota includes 1 in 4 Saturdays (9am–6pm) only.

About the Role

This is a full-time position at a welcoming small animal practice based on Cantium Retail Park in Old Kent Road, London. You’ll be joining a 4-vet, 3-RVN team that punches well above its weight in clinical expertise—the practice regularly performs orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery in-house and runs specialist nurse-led clinics for behaviour, dental, weight management, pain, arthritis and diabetes. The rota is straightforward: just 1 in 4 Saturdays (9am–6pm) and zero out-of-hours commitments, making this ideal if you want genuine time to rest and recharge.

The practice has built a loyal client base across approximately 60% insured animals, and the environment is genuinely collaborative. You’ll work directly with Practice Owner and Vet Rachel Maier and the wider team to deliver excellent patient and client care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support vets during consultations and surgical procedures, including anaesthesia and post-operative care
  • Perform scheduled procedures including injections, medications, fluid therapy and first aid as directed

  • Run nurse-led clinics and provide client advice on weight, behaviour, dental and pain management
  • Provide inpatient care including intensive monitoring, pain scoring and enrichment for longer-stay patients
  • Dispense medications in accordance with professional and legal guidelines
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records
  • Work proactively with the Practice Owner and senior team on day-to-day operations and practice development
  • Deliver excellent customer service during nurse consultations and client queries

Requirements

  • Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) or newly qualified veterinary nurse with confidence across all practice areas
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to deliver excellent patient and client care to a high standard
  • Willingness to embrace all aspects of the veterinary nursing role
  • Comfort working in a busy environment with a varied caseload

Benefits

  • Competitive salary starting from £31,000 (dependent on experience)
  • CPD allowance
  • Professional memberships paid for
  • 5.6 weeks holiday plus an extra day off for your birthday
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • 20% discount at Pets at Home, The Groom Room and The Vet Group
