Out of Hours Veterinary Care Assistant

About the Role

Leeds Birstall 24/7 Hospital is looking for an experienced night Veterinary Care Assistant to join a friendly, knowledgeable and experienced team. The rota is 7 on and 14 off, with shifts from 8pm to 8am, and the role totals 26.7 hours per week.

You will be part of a 24/7 RCVS accredited OOH hospital and referral centre that supports 19 referring surgeries, alongside a thriving first opinion business. The team includes 12 RVNs, 7 SVNs, 9 VCAs and 14 vets, with 1 vet and 1 RVN in all night.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the night team within a busy out of hours hospital and referral setting.
• Work alongside vets, RVNs, SVNs and VCAs during the 8pm to 8am shift.
• Contribute to the care of patients within a practice supporting emergency and referral work.

Requirements

• Experience as a Veterinary Care Assistant is required.
• Ability to work night shifts on a 7 on, 14 off rota.

About the Practice

Set up by JVPs Keith and Julie Leonard in 2012, this family-run practice is an award-winning, RCVS accredited hospital and emergency service clinic. It provides OOH and referral support to 19 referring surgeries while also running a first opinion business.

The practice says the team has over 60 colleagues, with experience across disciplines including ECC, small animal surgery and dentistry nursing. It is based at Leeds Birstall 24/7 Hospital in WF17 9AD.
