Registered Veterinary Nurse

About the Role

This Registered Veterinary Nurse opportunity is based at Vets for Pets Newcastle Kingston Park, with a full-time 37.5 hour option or part-time hours available. The rota can be built around you, weekends are covered on a rota basis with time off during the week, and there is no out-of-hours work.

You'll be joining a small team where you know every client and most patients by name. Schedule 3 work is actively encouraged, and you'll run your own nurse clinics with real client contact. The caseload is 100% small animal and varied, with support to develop the areas of nursing that interest you most.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on nursing care in a small animal practice.
• Run nurse clinics with direct client contact.
• Carry out Schedule 3 work.
• Support anaesthesia, in-patient care and laboratory work.
• Contribute to clinical protocols and policies as part of the wider team input.

Requirements

• RCVS-registered Veterinary Nurse, currently registered and in good standing.
• Good general practice experience.
• Applications are welcomed from nurses in their first couple of years through to experienced RVNs holding a certificate.
• Strong communication and client care skills.
• A genuine interest in animal welfare.
• Confidence working in a small team and using your own initiative.
• An interest in developing nurse clinics and Schedule 3 work.

About the Practice

Vets for Pets Newcastle Kingston Park is a family-owned practice operating two modern, purpose-built surgeries in the North East, at Newcastle Kingston Park and Gateshead Metro Centre. It sits within the wider Pets at Home Vet Group, while retaining the feel and clinical freedom of a locally owned practice.

The practice is owned by Samantha Sauer MRCVS and Mark Sauer, who are on site rather than at a head office. The team places wellbeing at the centre of how it works, with individually tailored rotas, a strong focus on development, and genuine input from every team member.
