Veterinary Surgeon

About the Role

This is a full-time opportunity for a confident, all-round veterinary surgeon to join an established small animal practice in Falkirk, central Scotland. You'll work across a mixed caseload in a setting designed around genuine continuity of care. The practice is located in Falkirk town centre with ample parking and excellent public transport access, making it ideal for exploring the Central Lowlands, just 30 minutes from Glasgow and an hour from Edinburgh.

Full-time hours run across 4 days per week, with weekend rotas on a 1-in-4 basis. Out-of-hours cover is shared: the practice provides OOH service until 10pm Monday to Friday, and you'll be expected to cover one evening per week. This role includes some sole charge work, suited to experienced practitioners comfortable working independently and with responsibility for varied medical and surgical cases.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide consultations and surgical care across a mixed medical and surgical caseload
• Manage sole charge sessions with confidence and clinical independence
• Contribute to continuity of care and maintain strong client relationships
• Participate in the practice's out-of-hours rota (one evening per week until 10pm)
• Support ongoing CPD and professional development within the team
• Engage with the team's collaborative culture and regular social events

Requirements

• RCVS registration as a veterinary surgeon (MRCVS)
• Experienced and confident in both consultations and surgical procedures
• Ability to work independently during sole charge sessions
• Comfortable with a mixed caseload and varied clinical scenarios
• Strong communication skills and commitment to client care
• Willingness to engage in CPD and professional development

About the Practice

This small animal practice has established itself as a pillar of the local community in Falkirk. The team comprises 6 vets, 8 RVNs, and 6 front of surgery colleagues, many of whom have been with the practice since its opening, creating a genuine family-feel environment. The practice is led by partner Samantha, who studied at Edinburgh University and brings over 15 years of experience in both small and large animal medicine. The team regularly socialises outside work and maintains strong professional and personal bonds.
