You'll step into a leadership position at Vets Now Gateshead, one of the group's busiest and most established emergency clinics. Operating from a PDSA host practice, this clinic has built a strong reputation for delivering emergency and critical care to an exceptionally high standard and is recognised internally as a fast-paced, rewarding environment. The role averages 40 hours per week and includes weekday nights and a 1:2 weekend rota (mix of nights and days), with night shifts running 18:00–09:00, Saturday days 12:00–18:30 and Sunday days 08:30–18:30. There are no more than three consecutive nights, and you'll have protected time for leadership duties and meetings. Excellent public transport links make commuting straightforward across the North East and beyond.
As Head/Lead Vet, you'll lead by example, blending clinical expertise with mentorship and collaboration. The clinic sees a high and varied caseload, offering outstanding clinical development and exposure to a broad range of emergency presentations. You'll work alongside a dedicated team including a Registered Veterinary Nurse, Animal Care Assistant and Receptionist on each shift, plus access to colleagues across Vets Now's nationwide network whenever you need additional support or a second opinion.
