Registered Veterinary Nurse

About the Role

This is a weekend-only registered veterinary nurse position at Vets Now Derby, one of the UK's leading emergency pet care providers. You'll work a rotating 8-week rota pattern, with Weeks 1-5 and 7-8 including both Saturday and Sunday shifts, Week 4 Saturday only, and Week 6 completely off. The role is perfect for building your emergency and critical care knowledge while maintaining flexibility around other commitments.

You'll join a highly skilled emergency team providing out-of-hours care to local veterinary practices and their patients. This weekend work allows you to develop specialist ECC skills, whether you're seeking a second income, balancing family life, or transitioning into emergency medicine.

Key Responsibilities

• First aid assessment and advice, both telephone triage and in-clinic treatment
• Critical care management including monitoring major body systems, in-patient trends, physiotherapy, pain assessment, and wound care
• Perform basic diagnostic procedures independently in a sole charge capacity
• Support surgical and anaesthetic procedures as part of the nursing team
• Maintain high clinic standards and provide compassionate care to clients and their pets

Requirements

• RCVS registered veterinary nurse with minimum six months post-qualification experience
• Motivation to maintain high clinic standards
• Passion for caring for clients and their pets
• Experience with emergency and critical care caseload advantageous
