About the Role

Animal A&E is seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join their independent small animal practice in Blackpool, Lancashire. This is a role built around balance: no weekend shifts, no out-of-hours commitments, and genuine clinical autonomy. You’ll work in a supportive environment where 20-minute appointment slots and scheduled breaks are non-negotiable, not aspirational.

Based in this vibrant coastal town, you’ll have access to a fully equipped operating theatre, modern diagnostic imaging (ultrasound and digital X-ray), and recently upgraded in-house laboratory facilities with the latest haematology and biochemistry analysers. Whether you’re seeking full-time or part-time hours, the practice is open to structuring your working pattern around what suits you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first opinion and routine small animal veterinary care
  • Perform surgical procedures including dentals in the equipped operating theatre
  • Utilise diagnostic equipment independently (ultrasound, digital X-ray, laboratory analysis)
  • Manage your own appointment schedule with protected consultation time
  • Contribute to the supportive team culture within this independent practice
  • Maintain high clinical standards in a collaborative, non-hierarchical environment

Requirements

  • Registered as a Veterinary Surgeon with the RCVS
  • Proven experience in small animal practice
  • Passion for animal welfare and quality patient care
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Professional approach to clinical decision-making

Benefits

  • Competitive salary up to £62,000 per annum (depending on experience), with salary review at 12 months
  • 6.6 weeks annual holiday allowance
  • No weekend shifts or out-of-hours duties
  • Clinical freedom and autonomy in your practice
  • Genuine work-life balance
  • Modern, fully equipped facilities
  • Supportive, young team environment
  • Flexible working options (full-time or part-time considered)
