1:5 weekend rota covering Saturday and Sunday mornings 9:00 AM–12:30 PM. Hours are flexible—candidates are encouraged to discuss alternative arrangements if the current pattern doesn't suit.

About the Role

You’ll be joining Ark Veterinary Surgery, a well-established two-site practice serving the Cheshire area with a reputation for delivering high-quality care across an interesting and varied caseload. This role offers approximately 41 hours per week on a four-day week (Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–6:30 PM) plus a 1:5 weekend rota covering Saturday and Sunday mornings. The practice is genuinely flexible—if the hours don’t suit your lifestyle, they’re open to discussing what would work better for you.

You’ll primarily be based at one practice location but may occasionally support the sister site to cover holidays and weekend commitments. The team consists of experienced vets with interests in cardiology, internal medicine, and soft tissue surgery, backed by RVNs, SVNs, and receptionists who share the practice’s commitment to excellent patient care. The practice benefits from modern facilities including digital x-ray, ultrasound, in-house lab with urinalysis capability, blood pressure monitoring, GA equipment, and Tonopen, plus access to Vet Oracle—a specialist teleservice platform offering expert clinical advice across medicine, radiology, cardiology, dermatology, oncology, neurology, ophthalmology, and dentistry.

  • Perform routine surgical procedures
  • Work in sole charge when required, with full support from the wider team
  • Contribute to the practice’s varied caseload, which includes small animals, small furries, exotics, and occasional wildlife cases
  • Occasionally work at the sister site in Northwich to support rota cover and holiday relief
  • Utilise Vet Oracle’s specialist support network for clinical guidance and case interpretation

Requirements

  • Qualified Veterinary Surgeon (RCVS registered)
  • Confident and experienced as a general practice vet
  • Comfortable and capable of working in sole charge when necessary
  • Able to perform routine surgical procedures

  • Eight weeks’ pay to support exceptional life events
  • Private medical insurance available after the first month (discounted rates)
  • RCVS and VDS support
