About the Role

Blaise Veterinary Referral Centre is searching for an experienced anaesthesia clinician to strengthen its rapidly growing specialist team. This is a part-time position (Monday to Wednesday, 30 hours per week) offering the rare combination of clinical depth and genuine work-life balance. You’ll be at the heart of a 36,000 sq ft, purpose-built multidisciplinary referral hospital treating up to 10,000 pets annually, working across complex surgical, emergency, and internal medicine cases.

The anaesthesia team already includes two ECVAA Diplomates and state-of-the-art equipment—your role is to deepen their capability whilst contributing to a collaborative, open-plan culture where innovation and clinical excellence thrive. Located in Longbridge, Birmingham, with excellent transport links and nestled within a regeneration development, the hospital combines modern facilities with a genuinely supportive working environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality anaesthesia and perioperative care across a varied referral caseload
  • Collaborate with surgeons, internal medicine specialists, imaging clinicians, and emergency teams to optimise patient outcomes
  • Support the development and refinement of anaesthesia protocols and clinical standards
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to colleagues within the wider clinical team
  • Contribute actively to clinical governance, continuous improvement initiatives, and team problem-solving
  • Work within a multidisciplinary environment where anaesthesia intersects with emergency care, surgery, imaging, and internal medicine

Requirements

  • MRCVS registration (or eligible to register)
  • Diplomate qualification in Veterinary Anaesthesia (ECVAA/ACVAA) or completion of residency training in the field
  • Demonstrated experience working in a referral or advanced clinical setting
  • Confidence managing anaesthesia for complex procedures, with the security of an experienced team around you
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills in a multidisciplinary hospital setting
  • Commitment to clinical excellence, patient safety, and ongoing professional development
