About the Role

You’ll join Blaise Veterinary Referral Hospital as a Veterinary Referral Clinician in Anaesthesia, working part-time across Monday to Wednesday (10-hour days, 30 hours per week). This is a permanent position within one of the UK’s largest purpose-built multidisciplinary referral hospitals, located in Birmingham’s Longbridge regeneration area.

Your focus will be delivering safe, high-quality anaesthesia and analgesia across a varied and complex referral caseload. You’ll work alongside experienced ECVAA Diplomates, state-of-the-art equipment (Mindray WATO EX-35 workstations, central monitoring systems), and a genuinely collaborative team spanning Surgery, ECC, Imaging, and Internal Medicine. This role offers real scope to develop your expertise within a supportive, well-resourced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-standard anaesthesia and perioperative care across diverse referral procedures
  • Collaborate with surgeons, emergency clinicians, and other specialists to support complex multi-disciplinary cases
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of anaesthesia protocols and clinical standards
  • Provide clinical guidance and peer support to wider team members
  • Participate actively in clinical governance, continuous improvement, and safety initiatives
  • Work within a 36,000 sq ft purpose-built facility treating up to 10,000 pets annually

Requirements

  • MRCVS registration (or UK eligibility)
  • Diplomate qualification in Veterinary Anaesthesia (ECVAA or ACVAA) or residency-trained in the discipline
  • Proven experience working in referral or advanced clinical settings
  • Demonstrated confidence managing anaesthesia for complex procedures, supported by an experienced team
  • Strong collaborative and communication skills with multidisciplinary teams
  • Commitment to clinical excellence, patient safety, and ongoing professional development
