Join a warmly-run small animal practice where receptionists are valued as the heart of the team—handling everything from puppy joy to compassionate end-of-life support, all within a practice that earned Petplan Practice of the Year in 2019.

🕐 Schedule & Rota

Saturday mornings (8:00am–1:30pm) are part of the standard rota; no night shifts or out-of-hours on-call duties.

About the Role

Blue House Veterinary Centre is seeking a Client Care Advisor for a fixed-term contract (6 months), part-time position. You’ll be the friendly face and voice of this long-established Biddulph practice, working 22–28 hours per week across two full days (8:00am–6:30pm/7:30pm) and two Saturday mornings (8:00am–1:30pm) on a 6-week rota.

This role goes far beyond traditional reception work. You’ll navigate the emotional spectrum of veterinary care—welcoming families through the door with their excited new puppies, managing busy phone lines, handling emails and enquiries, and offering compassionate support during difficult moments. With 9 Veterinary Surgeons, 5 Veterinary Nurses, and a close-knit team across the practice, you’ll be supported by colleagues who genuinely care about each other and the animals in their care.

The practice boasts beautiful, spacious premises with genuine staff perks: a well-equipped staff room complete with fridge, freezer, coffee, and even a massage chair, plus outdoor gardens, a pool table, and exercise equipment—places where the team actually wants to spend their breaks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage face-to-face client interactions, phone calls, emails, and general enquiries with a calm, friendly, and professional manner
  • Handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a busy environment, sometimes managing routine enquiries and emergencies within minutes of each other
  • Present a welcoming, approachable appearance and demeanor to clients across all channels—in person, by phone, or digitally
  • Support the broader practice team through collaboration and proactive problem-solving
  • Demonstrate flexibility and openness to feedback within a values-led, supportive team culture

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a customer-facing role with a strong focus on service and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills and a naturally professional, welcoming manner
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and maintain composure in a busy, sometimes unpredictable environment
  • Genuine collaborative approach and willingness to support colleagues
  • Proactive attitude with openness to feedback and learning

Benefits

  • 6.6 weeks’ annual leave (full-time equivalent), plus additional leave on your birthday
  • Increasing annual leave accrued through length of service
  • Enhanced family-friendly policies: maternity, paternity, adoption, shared parental, and surrogacy pay
  • Healthcare Cash Plan
  • Cycle to Work scheme
  • Pension scheme
  • Discounted staff pet care
  • Learning and development opportunities via the IVC Evidensia Academy
  • Voluntary benefits: choose from a range of perks to suit you
  • Access to discounts and cashback with hundreds of participating retailers
