Veterinary Surgeon – Small Animal

About the Role

Crown House Vets is seeking an experienced veterinary surgeon to join a warm, supportive small animal practice across two sites in Rochdale and Shaw, Oldham. This is a permanent position working 34 hours per week (Full Time, Part Time, or Flexible) with fixed shifts, meaning genuine predictability in your schedule. The main branch benefits from excellent transport links into Manchester city centre, making commutes straightforward.

You’ll be joining a team where the caseload is steady and manageable, and sole charge work is expected—but never isolating. This role suits a confident clinician comfortable with routine surgeries and medical cases, working alongside experienced colleagues who actively value nurse-led initiatives and collaborative care.

The only Saturday commitment is a 1:3 morning clinic (8:30 am–12:00 pm, consultations only)—no nights, no bank holidays, no out-of-hours cover.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver routine surgery and medical consultations in a 100% small animal setting
• Work independently with confidence in sole charge scenarios
• Collaborate with two other experienced vets and five RVNs who run their own clinics
• Contribute to a nurse-led care culture where RVNs take meaningful clinical roles
• Participate in Saturday morning clinics on a 1:3 rotation (consultations only)

Requirements

• Qualified veterinary surgeon with RCVS registration
• Demonstrable experience in sole charge work
• Confidence with routine surgical and medical cases
• Experience in small animal practice

About the Practice

Crown House Vets operates as a 100% small animal practice with two branches: the main surgery in Rochdale (with excellent public transport to Manchester) and a satellite in Shaw, Oldham. The clinical team comprises two experienced vets and five RVNs who take hands-on clinical roles and run their own clinics.
