About the Role
This is a remote Clinical Data Scientist position focused on turning veterinary clinical data into practical insight. You'll work closely with clinical leadership, research, and Data and Technology teams to support better patient outcomes, stronger clinical standards, improved operational effectiveness, and research capability.
The role covers reporting development, dashboard creation, statistical and machine learning approaches, and work with both structured EHR data and unstructured clinical notes. There is also some travel to meetings.
Key Responsibilities
- Support clinical improvement and clinical research under the Director of Research and Data Science.
- Analyse veterinary clinical datasets, including electronic health record data from the unified practice management system.
- Create and maintain dashboards for clinical improvement reporting.
- Apply statistical, machine learning, and AI methods to support clinical decision-making and patient outcomes.
- Work with structured clinical data and explore unstructured data such as free-text clinical notes.
- Collaborate with clinical colleagues and leadership teams to understand data requirements and deliver solutions.
- Contribute to analysis and reporting for research and quality improvement projects.
- Design, maintain, and optimise data models, analytical workflows, and reporting solutions.
- Translate complex analysis into clear recommendations for stakeholders.
- Work to data governance, quality, and reproducibility standards.
Requirements
- Post-graduate training in health data science, epidemiology, statistics, computer science, or a related discipline.
- PhD preferred, or a Master's degree.
- A degree in veterinary, medical, or related clinical sciences is desirable.
- Strong experience with large scale health data, research databases, or electronic health record datasets.
- Experience with Microsoft focused data visualisation tools such as Power BI.
- Experience with statistical modelling, machine learning, and predictive analytics.
- Technical scripting, data querying languages, or statistical software experience such as SQL, Python, or R.
- Experience working with data lakes and data warehouses using on-premise and cloud based systems such as SQL Server, Microsoft Fabric, or PySpark.
- Good organisation, stakeholder management, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently, problem solve, and document information clearly and accurately.
